NJ "The New Jersey Midland Railroad Historical Society, Inc. is dedicated to the preservation of the history of the railroads that have operated in New Jersey, with special emphasis on the New Jersey Midland; its successor New York, Susquehanna & Western; and other lines connected or affiliated including Lehigh & Hudson River; Lehigh & New England; Middletown & New Jersey; New York & Greenwood Lake; and Wharton & Northern." The Society collects and archives a collection of materials related to local history and early development of the Early American Circus. The Museum of the Early American Circus is run by the Society with the assistance of a curator and is located on the third floor of the circa 1825 Elephant Hotel at Routes 202 and 100. "Working in Paterson: Occupational Heritage in an Urban Setting presents 470 interview excerpts and 3882 photographs from the Working in Paterson Folklife Project of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. The four-month study of occupational culture in Paterson, New Jersey, was conducted in 1994." |
